Sadhana is a personal practice app. We collect the minimum we need to make the practice work, and nothing more. This document explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.
Who we are
Sadhana is built and operated by Preshit Mendhekar (the “founder”). You can reach us at [email protected].
What we collect
Account information
- Your email address (used to send magic-link sign-in emails — Sadhana does not use passwords).
- Your name, as you typed it during onboarding.
- The intention chips and free-text intention you set during onboarding.
- Whether you indicated you have young children, and which start-point you chose. These shape what verse you see and what voice the sakha takes.
- Your preferred language for sakha responses (English or Hindi).
Practice data
- Every reflection you have with the sakha — your messages and the sakha’s responses, stored against your account.
- Every sankalpa (intention) you set, and which verse it was set on.
- Timestamps of when you started and ended each session.
Technical data
- Standard error logs when something breaks. We do not collect device identifiers, IP addresses for analytics, or location.
We do not collect: contacts, photos, microphone audio recordings (audio is streamed in-memory to our transcription service and discarded immediately), camera, advertising identifiers, browsing history outside Sadhana.
How we use what we collect
- To run the daily practice itself — your reflections, sankalpas, and verse engagements are the core artifact (“Your Gita”) that the app exists to build.
- To send magic-link sign-in emails when you sign in.
- To send your reflections to Anthropic (the company behind Claude, the AI model that powers the sakha) so it can respond to you. Anthropic processes this content under their API privacy terms.
- To send your spoken audio to OpenAI Whisper for transcription, and the sakha’s text responses to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech for spoken audio. These services receive only the content of that single API call and do not receive your identity.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your conversations to train any model.
Where data is stored
- Your practice data is stored in a Supabase Postgres database hosted in the European Union (Frankfurt region).
- API keys for the AI services (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google) are held in Supabase Edge Function secrets and never leave the server.
Your rights
- Delete your account: Open /profile in the app and tap “Delete account.” This permanently and irreversibly deletes your profile, every reflection, and every sankalpa. There is no recovery.
- Export your data: Email [email protected] and we will send you a copy of everything we have on you within 30 days.
- Correct your data: Open /profile to edit your name and intention, or email us for anything else.
Children
Sadhana is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). The “Kid Mode” feature is a parent-facing surface — it generates a kid-friendly retelling of the day’s verse for a parent to share with their child. Your child is not a user of Sadhana.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we will tell you in the app the next time you open it. The “Last updated” date at the top of this document reflects the most recent change.
